Building the Lego Death Star

Jessica’s parents bought me (Andy) a Lego Death Star for Christmas. The boys and I built it over the span of six days.

One second of video is 30 seconds of build time. Video of the first day goes by slowly as I was figuring out the time lapse software, it moves much quicker through the rest of the video (the the entire video represents a 30:1 ratio of video time to build time.)

In the second day of building, we discovered that we were missing four pieces. This required a hiatus as we waited for Lego to ship us replacements. They were free, but it took nearly three weeks for them to arrive.

Day five is Superbowl Sunday. We got a lot done while watching the game. It looks like we’re looking at the camera, but the camera is mounted above the TV; it’s the TV we’re looking at.

Based on the length of the video and the 30:1 ratio, I estimate it took us 13 hours to complete it all.
